Arkansas United Soccer Club Invests in Conway

Arkansas United Soccer Club is happy to announce Justin Hawkins will be our Regional Director of Player Development for our North campuses including Heber Springs and Conway. Justin will be based out of the Centennial Campus as part of our ongoing commitment to Conway. In the new position, Hawkins will put a full time focus on all the soccer programs for players aged 3-19. including recreational and competitive teams; as well as camps, special programs and tournaments based at Centennial Park.

“The community of Conway has a rich history of soccer in Arkansas, and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to increase our investment in its growth for the future.  We were excited to partner with City of Conway to take over management of the soccer complex last fall, and have grown our membership to almost 700 families already. Now is a great time to further invest full time staff focus dedicated to serving the community and growing the programs.” said Michelle Cox, AUSC Executive Director.

Coach Hawkins is a former Technical Director for the Arkansas State Soccer Association, where he led the state’s Olympic Development Program and worked with soccer organizations across the state. He has long been a part of the soccer community of Conway; he started his career coaching at UCA and went on to be the Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs at Central Baptist College from 2005-2013, where he was the NCCAA Central Coach of the year in 2007 and 2008. From 2008-2012 Hawkins served as the Central Region Soccer Chair for the NCCAA. He has earned the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, as well as USYS National Youth License and the USSF National “B” level License. He was the director of coaching for Conway United Soccer from 2002-2005.

“In the old days, 15 years ago, we had 1200 kids playing soccer in Conway.  We were happy to host the Arkansas Premier Clubs’ State Championships last week here in Conway, bringing in families from 60 teams across the state to Conway.” reported Hawkins. “With this great facility and the strong community support, I’m looking forward to re-growing the youth soccer programs along with camps and summer and winter events.”
