The purpose of the United Development Academy is to offer a fun and challenging environment for players to learn to be skillful and confident with the ball. The focus of the United Development Academy will be primarily on individual skill following our club development model. However, players will also be introduced to team tactics and the first two principles of attack and defense. After completing this stage of development players should have acquired the fundamental movement and skills to enable them to have long term success in the sport of soccer. While every skill will not be mastered after this stage, players will have an understanding of how to perform each skill within the model skill set. The United Development Academy is a bridge program between Recreational and Classic soccer. So, players will also be introduced to the structure of the Classic program to prepare them for the next step in their soccer careers.
Season: Season will run for 12 weeks. Spring season starts February 4 continuing through May 4.
Age Groups: Any 2009 and 2010 boy or girl is eligible to participate in the program.
Cost: Registration fee is $285
Practices: Training will be scheduled three times per week. Players are expected to attend all three sessions. It will be important that players attend training because practices are where much of the learning and development take place. We understand that occasionally conflicts arise in which the participant cannot attend a training session. Other activities (music lessons, other sports, homework, etc.) should be considered before committing to this program to avoid significant interruption of the required practice and game schedule.
Monday and Thursday training sessions will last 1 hour and 15 minutes. Wednesday sessions will last 1 hour. Sessions take place at Centennial Park, Burns Park, Murray Park, and Natural Steps.
Games: Players will be divided into parity teams and play one competitive game against another United Academy team on Saturdays in our own Academy League. Arkansas United has several field locations throughout the Central Arkansas area. The United Development Academy players will travel to play at each of these locations at some point throughout the season. This will help prepare players for the next level of Classic soccer within the state. However, players will always train at their home location and play as many games as possible at their home location through the season. We ask that ALL players be prepared to be at the fields at least 20 minutes before the start of the game to warm up with your team. So, please plan for this in your weekly schedules.
AR United uses a pool training approach with our Development Academy. US Soccer recommends this system for ages U9-U10.
Arkansas United Soccer Club formerly known as Little Rock Futbol Club has been a 501c3 nonprofit youth organization serving our community since 1980. Our principal mission is the promotion of youth soccer. We strive to instill a love for the game in each of our players and to provide an atmosphere where each player may participate and progress according to his or her interest and ability. We take great pride in developing our players as athletes, students and responsible young men and women. Our players form life-long friendships with their club mates, acquire leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship skills that ultimately prepare them for life beyond soccer.
